Food Pantry: Produce Stand Helper
Details
Description
Bring your energy, friendly smile, and love for fresh food! Produce Stand Helpers help make our produce distribution welcoming, organized, and enjoyable for neighbors picking up healthy fruits and vegetables.
Volunteers will assist with setting up and maintaining the produce stand, sorting and arranging fresh produce, restocking items as needed, and helping clients select or receive their produce. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys being active, working as part of a team, and creating a positive experience for community members.
What you’ll do
- Help unload, sort, inspect, and organize donated fruits and vegetables.
- Set up produce displays so items are easy for clients to see and select.
- Restock the stand throughout distribution and keep the area neat, safe, and inviting.
- Welcome clients with a warm, respectful attitude and help answer basic questions about available produce.
- Assist clients with carrying produce bags or boxes to their vehicle or cart when needed.
- Help break down the produce stand, clean the work area, and store remaining items at the end of distribution.
- Follow food-safety practices and direction from the Pantry Manager or Produce Stand Lead.
Volunteer schedule
Produce Stand Helpers are needed during pantry distribution days, Monday through Thursday, generally from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Volunteers may serve one day per week or choose days that fit their schedule.
What to expect
This is an active, hands-on role. Volunteers should be comfortable standing for the duration of their shift, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Grocery carts and team support are available for heavier bags, boxes, or larger produce deliveries.
