Make a Difference: Become a Hospice Volunteer

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Gentiva Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to support patients and families throughout Huntsville, Madison, Athens, Meridianville, Scottsboro, and surrounding areas.

Hospice volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and a caring presence to individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. No medical experience is required—just a kind heart and a willingness to help.

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Providing companionship through conversation, reading, games, or simply being present
• Offering caregiver relief while a family caregiver takes a short break
• Visiting patients in their homes, assisted-living communities, or nursing facilities
• Writing cards and assisting with bereavement mailings
• Helping with administrative projects in our hospice office
• Supporting Veteran Recognition and We Honor Veterans activities
• Assisting with community outreach and special events

Scheduling is flexible, and assignments are based on your availability, interests, preferred location, and comfort level. Even one visit per month can make a meaningful difference in the life of a patient and their family.

Gentiva Hospice provides orientation, ongoing guidance, and support to help every volunteer feel prepared and confident. Patient-facing volunteers must complete the required onboarding and screening process.
