    Description

About The Lily Foundation & Advocates

The Lily Foundation & Advocates is a 501(c)(3) healthcare advocacy organization dedicated to improving patient navigation, caregiver support, healthcare literacy, and equitable access to community resources. Founded in 2025, our mission is to stand beside patients and families navigating fragmented healthcare systems, ensuring their dignity is preserved and their care is maximized.

As an early-stage non-profit, building a supportive, organized, and engaged volunteer community is essential to our sustainability. We are seeking a warm, process-oriented Volunteer Engagement & Onboarding Specialist to help design our volunteer lifecycle, manage intake, and foster a strong team culture.

    Role Overview & Commitment

In this role, you will serve as the primary bridge between compassionate professionals and our foundation’s mission. You will work closely with leadership to manage applicant screening, streamline onboarding workflows, maintain accurate volunteer records, and ensure every team member feels valued and supported.

    • Target Commitment: ~10 hours per week, focused on applicant coordination, onboarding communications, record management, and volunteer support.
    • Flexible & Remote: 100% remote and asynchronous—contribute on a schedule that fits your daily routine.
    • Organizational Impact: Build the human framework that powers our advocacy programs, grant initiatives, and community focus groups.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Informed Onboarding & Intake: Serve as the initial point of contact for prospective volunteers; guide applicants through screening, role alignment, and introductory onboarding modules.
    • Volunteer Roster & Data Tracking: Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database within our organizational systems (e.g., CRM or project management tools), ensuring contact info, skills, and availability are accurately logged.
    • Workflow & Role Matching: Collaborate with functional leads (operations, grants, web design, advocacy) to match volunteer skills with active foundation projects and quarterly priorities.
    • Engagement & Culture Building: Foster an inclusive, supportive virtual environment through regular check-ins, asynchronous team recognition, and gathering volunteer feedback to improve retention.
    • Process Standardisation: Help draft and update volunteer handbooks, onboarding checklists, and communication guidelines to reduce operational ambiguity as the team expands.

    Essential Skills & Qualifications

    • People-Centric Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills with an empathetic, welcoming approach.
    • Organization & Detail-Orientation: Strong administrative ability with experience managing rosters, tracking schedules, or maintaining digital records.
    • Tech & Workspace Comfort: Comfort using shared digital workspace tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Monday.com, or CRM platforms) to coordinate remote team members.
    • Mission Alignment: Passionate about health equity, community empowerment, and building sustainable volunteer infrastructure.

    Educational & Professional Benefits

    • Directly design and manage the volunteer infrastructure for an emerging healthcare non-profit.
    • Gain valuable hands-on experience in non-profit human resources, volunteer management, and community engagement.
    • Receive an executive letter of recommendation and professional reference upon successful completion of a 6-month term.
