    Description

    Pet Therapy Volunteer (visit patients with your dog)

    Provide a health dose of joy where it's needed most by getting certified to visit patients with your well-mannered dog! "Unleash" love on patients, families and staff by visiting one of our 11+ hospitals, ERs, or doctor's offices throughout Central Florida. Enhance patient experience by offering emotional support and comfort through the healing process. Pet therapy has been shown to reduce loneliness, blood pressure, anxiety/stress, and pain.

    To apply, you'll need to obtain certification from "Alliance of Therapy Dogs." After this is completed, you'll find the AdventHealth Volunteer Application process on our website: AdventHealth Central Florida Volunteer Services. Questions?     How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

    1. Get certified through: Alliance of Therapy Dogs - A National Pet Therapy Dogs Organization.
      1. You'll have 3 local observations to ensure your dog knows very basic commands, is friendly, and can remain calm in a chaotic environment.
    2. After you are certified, Complete the online orientation.
      1. Scroll down to the Volunteer Orientation section
      2. In the Categories menu, click on the Pet Therapy link.
      3. Click on the Pet Therapy Orientation link.
      4. You’ll see pop-up box asking for a Promotion Code. Enter: PET2020 and click the Apply button.
      5. Click the Buy button and register for an account by entering a username and password of your choice.
    3. Complete the Application and provide required documentation by clicking here.
    4. Look for an auto-generated email with instructions for scheduling your interview at the location where you want to volunteer.

    After a successful interview, you will be asked to complete any further items needed prior to getting started, such as completing a background check, submitting immunization records, your pet’s shot records, etc.
