    Description

CarePath Family Initiative is building its founding board — and we're looking for experienced professionals who want to do more than lend their name to a cause. We're looking for people who want to help build something.

CarePath is a Greater Boston nonprofit providing wraparound mentoring, family case management, workforce development, young parent support, and autism support services to youth and families ages 5–23. We are in our founding stage — incorporated in Massachusetts, EIN obtained, 501(c)(3) application in progress, and fiscal sponsorship established through Givinga Foundation. The infrastructure is in place. Now we need the governance team to match.

What board service at CarePath looks like:

This is a working board. We are not looking for figureheads. We are looking for professionals who will engage seriously with governance, bring their expertise to real organizational decisions, and help CarePath build the financial and operational foundation it needs to grow sustainably.

    Expectations include:

    • Attending quarterly board meetings (virtual or Greater Boston area)
    • Serving on at least one committee (Finance, Programs, or Development)
    • Participating in annual strategic planning
    • Supporting fundraising through personal networks and outreach — not necessarily giving large personal gifts, but opening doors
    • Reviewing financial statements, board materials, and organizational reports
    • Serving an initial two-year term, renewable

    Who we're looking for:

We are actively recruiting for three founding board seats. We welcome applications from professionals across sectors — including but not limited to:

    • Finance and Accounting — CPAs, CFOs, financial advisors, and banking professionals who can serve as Treasurer and oversee financial stewardship, Form 990 review, and audit readiness
    • Legal and Compliance — Attorneys, compliance officers, and legal professionals who can advise on nonprofit law, contracts, and governance
    • Clinical and Human Services — Licensed clinicians, social workers, program directors, and public health professionals with expertise in youth and family services
    • Business and Community Leadership — Executives, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who bring strategic thinking, networks, and board governance experience
    • Fundraising and Development — Professionals with experience in nonprofit development, major gifts, grant strategy, or corporate partnerships

We especially welcome professionals from the Greater Boston financial services and legal communities who are looking for a meaningful governance opportunity aligned with youth and family services. IRS conflict of interest requirements apply — board members may not have a financial relationship with CarePath.

    What you'll contribute:

You will help govern an organization that is clearing the path forward for youth and families who face real barriers — children who need mentors, families who need advocates, young adults who need a shot at economic independence, and autistic individuals who deserve support that honors their dignity. Your expertise will shape how CarePath grows, how it spends its resources, and how it measures its impact.

This is an early-stage opportunity. The board you join now will define the culture and direction of this organization for years to come.

    What CarePath offers board members:

    • Directors and Officers (D&O) liability insurance coverage
    • Full organizational onboarding and orientation
    • Transparent access to all financial and programmatic reporting
    • A governance culture built on trust, accountability, and genuine collaboration
    • The opportunity to be a founding voice in a mission-driven organization serving Greater Boston

To express interest: Submit your application through Idealist or email Mark Doe directly at info@carepathinit.org with a brief note about your background and what draws you to CarePath's mission.
