    Description

    Overview

    As a Starlight Strays Sanctuary Cat Transport Volunteer, you will support our mission by transporting animals from one location to another. By ensuring that the cat(s) in your care reach their destination safely, you will be playing a critical role in the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of felines in need.

    Responsibilities

    • Transport Animals: Safely transport cats to and from shelters, foster homes, veterinary clinics, and adoption events.
    • Animal Handling: Ensure animals are secure and transported safely and comfortably.
    • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the transport vehicle, ensuring it is equipped with necessary supplies (e.g., carriers, blankets / provided by Starlight Strays Sanctuary).
    • Schedule Coordination: Work with the rescue team to coordinate transport schedules and notify team members of any changes or delays.

    Requirements

    • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
    • Vehicle: Your vehicle must be reliable and capable of safely accommodating animal carriers.
    • Driver's License / Insurance: A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance are required.
    • Animal Experience: Previous experience handling or caring for animals, particularly cats, is preferred.
    • Communication Skills: Must be comfortable and confident communicating with rescue team members, foster homes, and the public.
    • Flexible Schedule: Willingness to help on a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, to meet transport needs.
    • Physical Ability: Ability to lift and move animal carriers and supplies (up to 20 pounds).
    • Empathy and Compassion: A genuine love and care for animals that drives your desire to make a difference.
