    Description

Stoop Stories connects New York City neighbors across generations and differences to reduce loneliness and increase compassion and joy. Through documentary stories and community events, we celebrate stoop culture and highlight underrepresented communities.

We encourage BIPOC creatives to apply

Who we're looking for: An organized, detail-oriented volunteer to manage our grant portfolio once funding is secured — tracking deadlines, ensuring compliance, and handling reporting so we never miss a requirement or risk a funder relationship. This is distinct from grant writing or grant strategy: you're the person who keeps us accountable after the check clears.

    The ideal candidate has:

    • Experience managing government and/or foundation grants post-award (compliance, reporting, renewals)
    • Familiarity with federal/state grant requirements (e.g., budget adherence, allowable costs, reporting cadences)
    • Strong organizational systems skills — comfortable owning a tracking tool and calendar of deadlines
    • Experience with functional expense reporting and grant budget-to-actual tracking
    • Clear, professional written communication for funder correspondence and reports
    • Comfort collaborating with program and finance volunteers to gather reporting data

    Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a master grants calendar — award dates, reporting deadlines, renewal windows
    • Ensure compliance with each grant's specific terms (allowable spend, matching requirements, timelines)
    • Prepare and submit interim and final reports to funders, pulling program and financial data from our team
    • Track budget-to-actual spend against each grant and flag risks early
    • Liaise with our Treasurer/Budget & Bookkeeping Manager to reconcile grant expenses
    • Maintain organized records for audit readiness
    • Advise on capacity before we accept new grants (can we realistically meet the compliance burden?)

    What's in it for you?

    • Be part of a dynamic, supportive, and inclusive team
    • Build a track record managing real government/foundation grant compliance
    • Receive mentoring from seasoned media producers, a professional recommendation
    • Contribute to a growing social impact organization that connects and uplifts New Yorkers
    • Good karma!

We are also looking for interns and volunteers for production, outreach, editorial, social media, and business strategy. If you'd like to get involved in another way, let us know! https://www.stoopstories.com/joinus Thanks!
