    Description

Polaris is a Colorado nonprofit building a way for purpose-driven people to find each other, create solutions to society's broken systems, and own what they build - starting with healthcare. We're producing a six-episode investigative documentary series on the U.S. healthcare system designed to call forward the builders and funders ready to create something better, and we're building the tech platform that helps them do it.

We're in an ambitious fundraising chapter to bring this mission to life, and we're looking for a skilled volunteer grant writer to help us reach the foundations and funders who back bold, systemic work. Your writing could directly unlock the resources that make this possible. As a key role in securing funding for the docu-series you will receive an executive producer credit in the series that is intended to launch on major streaming platforms and pre-screening events.

    What you'll do:

    • Research and identify foundations, family offices, individual donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities aligned with healthcare, systems change, social innovation & impact, media and documentary, and economic opportunity.
    • Help build and maintain a grant prospect pipeline - tracking fit, requirements, and deadlines.
    • Draft compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, and supporting narratives that translate our mission into fundable language.
    • Help assemble and organize the materials funders ask for, in partnership with our team.
    • Tailor our core story to each funder's priorities.

    Who we're looking for:

    • Experience writing grants, proposals, or persuasive long-form content. Formal grant-writing experience is a plus, but not required if you're a strong writer who learns fast.
    • Strong research skills and real attention to deadlines and detail.
    • The ability to take a big, complex mission and make it clear and compelling.
    • Self-directed and comfortable working remotely.
    • Bonus: familiarity with philanthropy, healthcare, documentary or media funding, or nonprofit development.

    Details:

    • Fully remote, flexible hours - roughly 3–8 hours per week, project-based around deadlines.
    • Ongoing, with room to grow into a lead role as we scale.
    • You'll work directly with the founder and core team - real impact, and a front-row seat to building something new.
