Executive Director (ED) – Volunteer Leadership Role

    Executive Director (ED)

    The Donovan’s Venom

Remote | Executive Leadership | Volunteer

We’re Building — And It Needs Leadership

The Donovan’s Venom is not just growing.

We are evolving — into a multi-division organization designed to expand access to fine arts and music education at scale.

And with that growth comes a need for leadership that can see ahead, align the organization, and drive impact.

We are seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization at the highest level.

Because vision without execution is nothing.

And execution without direction goes nowhere.

    The Role

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of The Donovan’s Venom.

    This role is responsible for:

      • Organizational vision
      • Strategic direction
      • External representation
      • Long-term sustainability

You are not here to manage tasks.

You are here to lead the organization forward.

You will partner with the Board and executive leadership team to ensure alignment, growth, and impact across every division.

    What You’ll Own

    Strategic Leadership & Vision

      • Define and drive the organization’s long-term strategy
      • Establish priorities aligned with mission and impact
      • Ensure alignment across programs, partnerships, and growth

    Board Governance & Executive Accountability

      • Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors
      • Provide strategic updates, risk insights, and performance visibility
      • Ensure governance, compliance, and accountability

    Fundraising & Financial Sustainability

      • Lead fundraising strategy and revenue diversification
      • Build relationships with donors, sponsors, and partners
      • Ensure long-term financial sustainability

    External Relations & Partnerships

      • Serve as the public face of the organization
      • Build partnerships with:
      • Schools
      • Community organizations
      • Corporate sponsors
      • Strengthen visibility and credibility

    Executive Leadership & Organizational Alignment

      • Lead and align executive team (COO, CPO, CCO, etc.)
      • Ensure all functions operate toward a shared strategy
      • Establish accountability and performance expectations

    Growth, Innovation & Impact

      • Identify opportunities to expand programs and reach
      • Drive innovation across divisions
      • Ensure measurable impact and continuous improvement

    Risk, Ethics & Organizational Integrity

      • Maintain oversight of organizational risks
      • Ensure ethical leadership and compliance
      • Protect the organization’s reputation and trust

    Who This Is For

This role is for someone who:

      • Thinks in enterprise strategy, not tasks
      • Can lead through influence, not just authority
      • Understands nonprofit growth and sustainability
      • Can align multiple leaders and functions
      • Is comfortable representing the organization publicly

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 7+ years of leadership experience (nonprofit or executive roles)
      • Experience in:
      • Strategic planning
      • Fundraising
      • Stakeholder engagement
      • Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and board relations

    Preferred

      • Experience scaling organizations or startups
      • Proven success in fundraising and partnerships
      • Experience leading executive-level teams

    Commitment

      • 15–20+ hours per week
      • Flexible schedule (including evenings/weekends as needed)
      • Fully remote

    What You’ll Gain

      • Executive leadership of a growing nonprofit
      • Opportunity to shape strategy and long-term direction
      • Direct impact on mission, growth, and community reach
      • Experience leading a multi-division organization
