    Volunteer with Vulnerable Children in Uganda (Education & Empowerment Program)

    Description

    Agape Children’s Foundation invites passionate and compassionate individuals to volunteer at our community-based orphanage and school, Agape Educational Center, located in Mayuge District, Uganda.

    We work with vulnerable children, including orphans and those from low-income families, providing them with access to education, care, and holistic development. Volunteers play an important role in supporting both academic and personal growth for the children we serve.

    Key Responsibilities:

      1. Support teachers in classroom instruction (Nursery to Primary Seven)
      2. Assist children with reading, writing, and basic learning activities
      3. Organize and lead extracurricular activities such as sports, music, art, and games
      4. Provide mentorship, guidance, and emotional support to children
      5. Support girls’ education initiatives, including menstrual hygiene awareness programs
      6. Participate in community outreach and child welfare activities

    Qualifications & Requirements:

      1. Genuine interest in working with children and youth
      2. Positive attitude, patience, and cultural sensitivity
      3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      4. Background in education, social work, psychology, or community development is an added advantage (not required)
      5. Willingness to adapt to a rural/community setting
      6. Minimum commitment of 2–4 weeks preferred (flexible arrangements available)

    Additional Information:

    This opportunity offers a meaningful cultural exchange and hands-on experience in grassroots community development. Volunteers will have the chance to make a direct and lasting impact in the lives of children while gaining insight into the local Ugandan context.

    Instructions for Interested Volunteers

    Please submit your application through Idealist and include the following:

    • An updated CV/Resume
    • A brief statement of motivation (1–2 paragraphs)
    • Your availability (start date and duration of stay)

    Shortlisted applicants may be asked to provide a reference and a copy of a valid ID/passport. Long-term volunteers may also be required to submit a police clearance certificate.

    We encourage applicants to apply early, as placements are filled on a rolling basis. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted with further details, including travel guidance and preparation information.
