    Description

THIS IS AN UNPAID VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

    About Us

She CAN Edit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers girls in underserved communities by teaching them the technical and creative skills of video editing and post-production. Our mission is to close the gender and racial gap in the media industry through hands-on programs, mentorship, and digital access.

We’ve recently launched our website, and now we’re looking for a talented WordPress designer/developer to help us enhance its design, functionality, and user experience as we grow our digital presence.

    Role Overview

We’re seeking a passionate and detail-oriented WordPress expert to help refine, expand, and style our website in a way that clearly communicates our mission, attracts donors and volunteers, and supports our community-focused programming. You’ll be working directly with the founder to bring creative ideas to life and elevate the impact of our online platform.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and refine page layouts to match our brand identity
    • Ensure consistent, responsive design across devices
    • Customize WordPress themes (no coding required, but welcome)
    • Add new sections (podcast, program updates, donation forms, blog, etc.)
    • Improve site speed, navigation, and accessibility
    • Help integrate plugins for events, donations, SEO, or storytelling tools
    • Recommend best practices for a nonprofit WordPress build

    Ideal Candidate

    • Proven experience with WordPress (Elementor, Divi, or similar)
    • Strong sense of design and UX/UI for modern, mobile-first sites
    • Basic knowledge of SEO and page optimization
    • Familiar with integrating donation forms and nonprofit tools
    • Collaborative, creative, and excited about purpose-driven work
    • Bonus if you know CSS/HTML, but not required

    What You’ll Gain

    • A creative and meaningful portfolio project
    • The opportunity to build or refresh a nonprofit brand from the ground up
    • Flexibility in work hours and design freedom
    • Direct impact in helping girls gain access to media tools and training
    • LinkedIn recommendation or professional reference upon successful completion
