    Description

    About Us

Abba's House Communities is a nonprofit Christian ministry operating under the fundamental belief that every human being deserves a safe place to sleep, heal, and rebuild. Guided by the slogan A Home For Everyone, our vision is to protect the rights of the poor and helpless.

To combat the rising rates of homelessness, our goal is to convert underutilized warehouses into fully equipped Community Housing Centers. These planned facilities are designed to provide both immediate relief and long-term stability. Our vision for each center includes private pods with clean beds and televisions for personal space, alongside shared amenities such as a gym, cafeteria, full kitchens, laundry rooms, and dedicated office space for job searching.

    The Opportunity

With our 501(c)(3) status officially secured, Abba's House Communities is transitioning from a bold vision into an active, growing organization. The organizational and legal groundwork has been laid, and we are ready to build a robust, multi-disciplinary board of directors to raise capital, establish community partnerships, and launch our first center.

We are seeking dedicated professionals to step in at this pivotal stage and help build our operational framework from the ground up. While this is currently a remote, volunteer role, our goal is to open a flagship facility that will serve as a blueprint for nationwide expansion, with the clear intention of offering future compensation as we successfully scale and secure steady funding.

    Areas of Expertise Sought

We are actively seeking board members who bring significant experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Financial Management: Overseeing organizational budgets, financial planning, and ensuring fiduciary compliance.
    • Fundraising & Grants: Designing capital campaigns, identifying donor segments, and managing grant writing for private, state, and federal initiatives.
    • Social Work & Human Services: Guiding the development of our planned 90-Day Transition and Direct Entry programs to ensure trauma-informed, effective care for our members.
    • Medical & Public Health: Advising on health, safety, and wellness standards within our communal living environments.
    • Government & Public Policy: Navigating municipal zoning, building relationships with local officials, and advocating for affordable housing initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Actively participate in regular virtual board meetings to shape the organization's strategic direction and policies.
    • Provide expert guidance within your specific professional discipline to ensure the successful launch of our first Community Housing Center.
    • Assist in establishing a framework for cultivating relationships with philanthropic partners, corporate sponsors, and community stakeholders.
    • Serve as an ambassador for the organization's mission and values.

    Qualifications

    • Proven leadership experience in finance, fundraising, social work, healthcare, government, or public policy.
    • An entrepreneurial spirit suited for an early-stage, fast-growing nonprofit.
    • A strong alignment with our Christian ministry values and a passion for answering the call of Matthew 25:35-40, which instructs us to house the homeless, welcome the stranger, and restore dignity to the displaced.
    • Ability to commit to regular virtual communication and remote board meetings.
