Purpose:
The Vice Chair supports the Board Chair in providing leadership to the Board of Trustees and helps ensure continuity of governance, effective board operations, and follow through on strategic priorities. The Vice Chair acts in the absence of the Board Chair and performs duties assigned by the Board.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives
- Support the Board Chair in planning and conducting board meetings
- Assist with board leadership, governance, and strategic oversight
- Serve in place of the Board Chair when the Chair is unavailable
- Help ensure the board committees and initiatives are progressing appropriately
- Support Board orientation, and development of Trustees
- Assist in monitoring board accountability, participation, and follow-through
- Collaborate with fellow Trustees and officers to advance the organizational priorities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees or delegated by the Board Chair
Length of term: Two years
Time Commitment: As required to accomplish major duties
Reporting: The Vice Chair reports to the Board Chair and to the Board of Trustees
