As a volunteer for Hudson Hospital's "My Life My Story" program, you will visit with patients, interviewing them about their life, and then type up short narratives (approximately 1,000 words) about their life based on the interview. This is an opportunity for the patient to share a little of their life story - what they feel is important for others to know, what they've experienced in their life, and other things that make them unique. In essence, you will be bringing the voice of the patient to life. The printed story is then given to the patient as a keepsake, which they may share with their family. If the patient approves, the hospital will add the patient's story to their personal electronic medical record for their future care providers to read. The story will help the patient's care team find connections and develop a relationship with the patient. This volunteer position requires strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
