    Description

At Vitality Hospice, we believe that our care for a family doesn't end when a patient passes away. We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and empathetic Bereavement Volunteers to provide a supportive presence to families navigating the first year of their grief journey.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Conduct "check-in" phone calls to grieving family members to offer a listening ear and emotional validation.
    • Utilize therapeutic communication skills to help families process their loss (focusing on emotional support rather than clinical advice).
    • Assist the Bereavement Coordinator with mailing anniversary cards, grief resource packets, and organizing memorial services.

    Flexible Scheduling Options

We know your time is valuable. We are looking for a consistent commitment and can offer several schedule tracks:

    • The Full Day: One 5-hour shift per week.
    • The Split: Two 3-hour shifts per week.
    • The Alternate: Every other week (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, or similar).
    • Shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday during standard business hours.

    Requirements

As a Hospice Volunteer, you are a core part of our mission. To join us, you will need to:

    • Complete our standard Hospice Volunteer onboarding and orientation.
    • Pass a background check and health screening (provided by us).
    • Maintain strict confidentiality and respect for patient privacy (HIPAA).
    • Be comfortable using basic office software (Word, Excel, Email).

Please Note: If you have experienced a significant personal loss within the last 12 months, we generally recommend waiting one year before serving in this specific role.

    How to Apply

If you are ready to turn your empathy into action and support families in Eastern PA and South/Central NJ, we would love to meet you.
