    Description

    Museum Collections Intern

The Whittier Birthplace in Haverhill, MA seeks a college or graduate student to volunteer as a Museum Collections Intern during the summer of 2026.

The Museum Collections Intern will work under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with other collections volunteers. This is an unpaid, part time internship, 1-2 days per week.

The Museum Collections Intern will undertake two main projects this summer. First, the intern will join the team effort to catalog, photograph, and update the database (CatalogIT) records for the artifacts within the museum's collection. Second, the intern will complete a solo research project of their choosing. Research projects could take a deeper dive into one or more artifacts within the collection or draft/update procedural or policy documents for collections care. In either case, a written or tangible product should be the result.
