    Description

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Grant Writing Specialist to join our volunteer team. In this role, you will play a critical part in securing funding to sustain and grow our civic tech and open governance initiatives. You will work closely with our leadership team to identify funding opportunities and craft compelling proposals to foundations, government bodies, and institutional donors.

    Responsibilities

    • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources aligned with our mission
    • Write, edit, and submit clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant proposals and letters of inquiry
    • Maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting obligations
    • Collaborate with program leads to gather data, impact stories, and supporting documentation for proposals
    • Assist in writing grant reports and progress updates for funders
    • Help build and maintain a library of reusable grant content, including organizational boilerplate, program descriptions, and impact data
    • Stay informed about trends in civic tech, open governance, and related funding landscapes

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field
    • Excellent written communication and storytelling skills
    • Strong research and analytical abilities
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks
    • Passion for civic technology, transparency, and open governance
    • Experience with nonprofit or social impact organizations is an advantage

    Commitment Details

    • Position Type: Volunteer
    • Time Commitment: 3 hrs per day
    • Duration: Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Schedule: Monday- Friday from 9 AM TO 12 PM WAT
    • Location: Remote
    • Expectations: Reliable participation, timely submissions, and consistent communication
