Description
About Civicom Aid
Civicom Aid is a registered non profit Public Benefit Organisation, an NGO, based in Mombasa, Kenya. We work across Kenya and Uganda.
We run three programmes: Business Growth, Education Access, and Farmer-Managed Community Restoration.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled volunteer to help us build a new Civicom Aid website using GitHub.
This is an unpaid, remote role. It suits someone who enjoys web development and wants to use their skills for a good cause. Our team will support you throughout, and we can adjust the pace and workload to fit your availability.
What You Will Do
As our GitHub Website Developer, you will help us build a new website, move our current content across, and get it live on our domain.
Your Roles
- Build a new Civicom Aid website using GitHub
- Migrate content from our current website to the new site
- Host the finished website on the civicom.org domain
- Test the website to make sure it works well and looks good on computers and smartphones
- Join occasional remote check-ins to share progress and plan next steps
Qualifications
- Experience building websites using GitHub or GitHub Pages
- Able to work independently or group flexibly across time zones
- Non profit or NGO experience is a bonus, not a must
Other Details
- Location: Fully remote — open to volunteers anywhere
- Time: Flexible, we will agree what works for you
- Length: We suggest a short, no pressure trial period first, so we can both see if it is a good fit. You can continue after that if you would like to
- Support: You will work closely with our Executive Director and team, who are there to help you
