    Description

    Role Overview

    As a Grant Researcher & Writer for The Rescue Crew, you play an important role in expanding the organization’s lifesaving capacity. You help identify funding opportunities and support the preparation of grant proposals that make it possible to save more animals, expand programs, and strengthen operations.

    From researching potential funders to drafting grant narratives and tracking deadlines, you help ensure The Rescue Crew has the resources needed to grow sustainably. This role balances research, writing, and organization, and is ideal for someone who enjoys mission-driven work and clear, meaningful impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Grant Research

    • Identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and animal welfare organizations.
    • Research eligibility, deadlines, funding priorities, and application requirements.
    • Maintain and update a grant prospect list or tracking document.
    • Monitor recurring and annual grant opportunities.

    Proposal Writing & Preparation

    • Draft or adapt grant narratives using provided organizational materials.
    • Tailor proposals to align with each funder’s priorities.
    • Assist with assembling required attachments and supporting documents.
    • Ensure applications are clear, accurate, and submitted on time.

    Coordination & Tracking

    • Work with leadership to confirm project details, budgets, and outcomes.
    • Track submitted grants, decisions, and reporting deadlines.
    • Maintain a simple grant calendar or tracking system.
    • Help prepare brief reports or updates for funded grants when needed.

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
    • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
    • Comfortable working independently.
    • Interest in nonprofit work or animal welfare.
    • Organized and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.

    Bonus if you…

    • Have prior grant writing or fundraising experience.
    • Have worked in nonprofit development or communications.
    • Are familiar with basic budgeting or program planning.
    • Have volunteered with The Rescue Crew or another rescue organization.

    Position Type: Volunteer Role

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Location: Remote

    Time Commitment: Flexible; approximately 3–6 hours per week during active grant cycles
