Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Kids’ Craft Assistant (Temporary)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Summer Kids’ Craft Assistant to help keep our creative programs running smoothly this July and August! You will be paired directly with our current Lead Kids' Craft Volunteer, serving in a supportive role. You do not need to be a master artist or come up with the lesson plans—your goal is to help facilitate the activities, manage the supplies, and ensure the kids are having a great time.

Key Responsibilities

• Activity Support: Partner with the Lead Craft Volunteer to help kids follow instructions, use supplies safely, and complete their projects.
• Child Engagement: Keep children of a variety of ages focused, engaged, and encouraged throughout the craft session.
• Setup & Teardown: Assist with retrieving specialty craft supplies from our designated storage areas and ensure all paints, markers, and materials are properly cleaned and put away at the end of the shift.
• Safety & Boundaries: Ensure all activities are conducted safely and follow our standard shelter protocols and guidelines.

What We Are Looking For

• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude when working with children experiencing transition.
• Ability to gently guide and redirect kids who may become distracted or frustrated.
• A team player who is happy to take direction from the Lead Volunteer and assist wherever needed.
• Note: No advanced artistic skills are required—just a willingness to get a little messy and have fun!
