As a Bereavement Support Volunteer, you will offer comfort through friendly phone calls, handwritten cards, and supportive communication. This is a low-risk volunteer opportunity that does not involve direct patient care and is ideal for individuals who are empathetic, dependable, and good listeners.

    • Send cards, notes, or letters of encouragement
    • Provide compassionate listening and emotional support
    • Share information about available grief support resources when appropriate
    • Document volunteer contacts according to agency guidelines
    • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

    Qualifications

    • Age 18+
    • Compassionate and emotionally mature
    • Comfortable speaking with individuals experiencing grief and loss
    • Reliable communication skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Completion of volunteer training and onboarding requirements

    Benefits

    • Make a meaningful impact in someone's healing journey
    • Flexible scheduling opportunities
    • Gain experience in supportive care and grief services
    • Receive training and ongoing support from hospice staff
    • Perfect for students pursuing counseling, social work, psychology, healthcare, ministry, or related fields

    Training Provided

All volunteers receive comprehensive hospice and bereavement training prior to serving. No previous hospice experience is required.
