    Description

Volunteer as a Sexual Assault Crisis Advocate!

This 48 hour certification training is held by YWCA New Britain Sexual Assault Crisis Service (SACS). Classes are facilitated by certified counselors, experienced professionals, and survivors of sexual violence. Upon completion of the course, participants will have a better understanding of sexual violence and its impact on survivors and their loved ones. They will be state certified to serve as sexual assault crisis counselors on our 24/7 hotline.

The cost of this training is $85, though no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

    Training topics include:

History of the anti-sexual violence movement, the sexual violence continuum, child sexual abuse, rape culture, male survivors, mandated reporting, medical, police, and legal procedures, survivors’ rights, empowerment, impact of trauma, crisis intervention, and much more!

Please note: Interviews must be completed prior to start of class. Class will meet twice a week, in person on Tuesdays and over Zoom on Thursdays. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
