    Help Build Homes Behind the Scenes

    Habitat for Humanity of Long Island is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Administrative Assistant Volunteer to support our Construction Department. This volunteer role is ideal for someone with administrative experience who enjoys organizing information, maintaining records, and helping projects run efficiently.

    By providing administrative support to our construction team, you will play an important role in helping Habitat build and preserve affordable housing for families across Long Island.

    Volunteer Responsibilities

    • Organize and maintain construction files and project documentation
    • Scan, file, and electronically archive documents
    • Assist with data entry and recordkeeping
    • Code and organize receipts, invoices, and purchase records
    • Help track construction-related expenses and vendor information
    • Prepare and update spreadsheets and reports
    • Assist with permit, inspection, and project documentation filing
    • Maintain organized digital and paper filing systems
    • Support construction staff with administrative tasks and special projects
    • Ensure confidential and financial information is handled appropriately

    Qualifications

    The ideal volunteer will have:

    • Previous administrative or office support experience
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Experience with filing, scanning, and document management
    • Experience coding receipts, invoices, or financial records preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
    • Positive attitude and commitment to Habitat's mission

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible weekday volunteer opportunities
    • Minimum commitment of one day per week preferred
    • Ongoing volunteer opportunities available
    • In-person position at Habitat for Humanity of Long Island offices
