Paws & Compassion: Bring Smiles and Comfort with Your Therapy Pet
Share the healing power of your certified therapy animal. Pet Therapy Volunteers provide comfort, companionship, and a joyful distraction to hospice patients and their families in homes or care facilities.
What You’ll Do:
- Spend time with patients, offering comfort and companionship
- Participate in friendly visits with your certified therapy animal
- Follow a volunteer care plan agreed upon with the hospice team
Pet Qualifications:
- Certified/registered therapy animal (most commonly dogs)
- Up-to-date vaccinations (rabies & distemper) and health screening
Volunteer Qualifications:
- Therapy animal/handler liability insurance coverage
- Volunteer must be at least 18 years old with reliable transportation
- Criminal background check, drug screening & TB test
- Completion of hospice volunteer training and orientation required
