    Description

    SPEAK UP for others! Be an Ombudsman/Medical Advocate

    Definition: OMBUDSMAN: A trained volunteer who is NYS certified as an independent advocate for residents of nursing and adult homes and their families.

    Ombudsman can help with resident's care and rights, personal concerns, financial concerns, administrative policies in nursing and adult homes, resident/staff misunderstandings, suspected neglect, mistreatment or abuse.

    Complete training and support is given to all volunteers.

    • 5 day training required.

    Assignments are available throughout LIVINGSTON, Monroe, Ontario, Genesee, Wyoming,Wayne, Seneca and Yates Counties.

    Volunteers who are Ombudsman through RSVP receive the following benefits:

    • Supplemental accident and liability insurance coverage at no cost
    • Invitation to annual RSVP Volunteer Recognition event, as well as Lifespan Volunteer events
