    Literacy Tutors Needed

Hillsborough Literacy Council trains volunteers to help adults learn to read or to speak English.

    • Adult Basic Literacy: Tutor an english speaking adult one-on-one in basic reading and writing skills up to a 5th grade level.
    • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): teach small groups of 2-3 adult english language learners basic conversational English skills.
    • Conversation Corners: Casual small-group programs led by a volunteer English speaker or tutor for adults who are able to speak some English and would like extra opportunities to speak and practice English.
All volunteers are provided teaching materials and attend virtual training sessions before being matched with an adult learner on our waiting list.
