    About Us

King Me Da Empire Youth Services (KMDE) is a Philadelphia youth enrichment organization founded by Christopher Burney. Our philosophy, "Meet Them Halfway," uses what young people already love — sports, music, digital media, performing arts, food, and entrepreneurship — as a pathway to learning, leadership, and confidence. We run weekly after-school classes (6–8 week cycles), one-day workshops, and summer and weekend programs for students from preschool through high school, partnering with schools, childcare centers, out-of-school-time providers, and nonprofits across Philadelphia.

    Required Clearances

Pennsylvania law requires all three before working with youth (KMDE can guide you through the process):

    - PA Child Abuse History Clearance (DHS)

    - PA State Police Criminal Background Check (PATCH)

    - FBI Criminal Background Check with fingerprinting

Volunteers may qualify for free clearances and the PA volunteer waiver where eligible.
