RLC Climate Council Member (Board Service/Fellowship)

The Climate Council is an opportunity for individuals from diverse industries and sectors to learn, share, and rethink how to improve today's food system. Challenges like excess food going to landfill are often addressed via a siloed approach, solved within individual industries with industry-specific tools and networks. Stronger collaboration can contribute to achieving ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals and improving resource efficiency.

Structured as partial nonprofit board service and partial fellowship, the Council will provide access to guest speakers, program planning, and publishing opportunities. Our goal is to engage new voices and skills in the issue of excess food in landfills.

Council Member Expectations

• Dedicate 2-4 hours per month to Council activities. This includes:
• Attending virtual monthly meetings
• Ad-hoc asynchronous planning sessions
• All virtual or in-person Council-organized events (~5/year)
• Remain on the Council for at least one (1) year, with the opportunity to renew membership up to two (2) times (with a term limit of 3 years).
• Willingness to share and promote RLC opportunities, events, and fundraising campaigns with respective networks.
• Willingness to contribute personal skills and knowledge (such as legal, marketing, or software) that can benefit RLC as an organization and encourage peer Member learning.
• Utilize professional and personal networks to contribute monetary and non-monetary resources for Council-led programming (e.g. venues/event space).
