    Description

Volunteers Needed at pre-Thanksgiving Celebrations: Multiple Locations

Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC) is one of New York City’s largest social service agencies, dedicated to helping men and women experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. Our volunteers play an essential role in supporting this mission, particularly during the holiday season.

The Thanksgiving season is our busiest volunteer season of the year, and one of our most meaningful. For many of those we serve, the holidays can be especially difficult. With the kindness and generosity of our volunteers, however, Thanksgiving becomes a time of warmth, companionship, and community.

We are now booked to capacity on Thanksgiving Day, however, we have several volunteer opportunities available on November 24 and 25, at BRC programs throughout Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan. Depending on the location, volunteers may assist with decorating dining areas, light meal preparation, plating food, taking orders, serving residents, and post-meal cleanup. No special skills are needed, just a willingness to lend a hand!

Interested in volunteering? All volunteers must complete the BRC New Volunteer Registration Form (a link will be provided after submitting your interest here) and attend a brief 45-minute Zoom orientation before receiving an assignment.

Shifts are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and tend to fill quickly, so we strongly encourage you to register and complete orientation as soon as possible.

Whether you can spare a few hours before Thanksgiving or join us on the holiday itself, your time and generosity will help make the season a little brighter for the men and women we serve.
