    Description

Because comfort sometimes comes with fur, four paws, and a wagging tail đŸŸ

    Position Type: Volunteer

    What This Is All About:

Do you and your pet love spreading joy? As a Hospice Pet Therapy Volunteer, you and your certified therapy animal will bring comfort, smiles, and meaningful moments to patients and families during life’s most tender times. Whether it’s a gentle paw, a soft purr, or a wagging tail, your visits can make a big difference in a very simple, beautiful way.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Share uplifting pet therapy visits with hospice patients in homes, assisted living communities, or care facilities (with hospice team approval).
    • Provide calm, comforting interaction that supports emotional well-being and quality of life.
    • Follow each patient’s plan of care and work closely with our hospice team to ensure safe, enjoyable visits.
    • Respect patient preferences, comfort levels, and energy—sometimes the quiet presence of your pet is the best gift.
    • Follow all safety, infection control, and privacy guidelines.
    • Complete brief visit documentation and communicate any concerns to the hospice team.

What We’re Looking For (You + Your Pet):

    • Volunteers age 18+ with a compassionate heart 💙
    • A certified therapy animal through a recognized therapy animal organization (certificate required)
    • Pets who are calm, friendly, well-groomed, and enjoy meeting new people
    • Up-to-date immunizations for your pet, with documentation required (including rabies and any additional vaccines required by healthcare facilities)
    • Commitment to maintaining your pet’s health, cleanliness, and behavior standards for healthcare environments
    • Willingness to complete hospice volunteer orientation and ongoing training, as required by CMS

    We’ll Support You:

You’ll receive hospice volunteer orientation, guidance, and ongoing support so you and your pet feel confident and prepared. Our hospice team is always here to help—because we care for our volunteers just as much as our patients.

    Why You’ll Love This:

You’ll create moments of joy, comfort, and connection when they’re needed most—and chances are, you and your pet will leave each visit with full hearts and wagging tails.

đŸ¶đŸ± Ready to put your pet’s certification to good use and make a difference?

Join our hospice volunteer team and help us spread comfort—one paw print at a time.
