Scientific Adventures for Girls is seeking female-identifying STEM/trade professionals to spend an afternoon in our TK-6th grade girls' afterschool STEM classes. Share your story and do a fun, hands on science project with the girls!
Time Commitment
- Dates: At least 1 weekday (Monday - Friday) April 13-May 29
- Times: 2.5-3.5 hours between 1:00-5:30pm per school site visit
- Locations: Elementary Schools in Richmond, Oakland, Berkeley, & Emeryville
Before Visit:
- Connect with our Volunteer Manager
- Attend a 15 min virtual orientation
- Receive an email connecting you to the teacher at the school a week ahead
Day of:
- Meet with 2-3 classes (back to back) for 1 hour each
- Provide a brief introduction of your role/career, and optional show-and-tell with any appropriate items from your work (5-7 min)
- Hold a Q&A session with students (5 min)
- Help the girls with a preplanned, teacher led Slime project (45 min)
- You do NOT need to know anything about slime to sign up!
