    Description

    Volunteer UX/UI Designer (Remote)

Courthouse Dogs Foundation is seeking a Volunteer UX/UI Designer to support the redesign of courthousedogs.org.

This role is ideal for someone who:

      • Wants hands‑on experience designing a real, public‑facing website
      • Enjoys working across user experience and visual design
      • Is building a portfolio or looking to apply their skills to a meaningful mission
      • Cares about accessibility, clarity, and trauma‑informed design

You’ll collaborate with a small, mission‑driven team on a high‑impact project that will shape how people experience our organization.

    What You’ll Do

Depending on your interests and strengths, you may work on:

      • User flows, information architecture, and key journeys (donors, legal professionals, members, volunteers)
      • Wireframes and layouts for:
      • Homepage and storytelling pages
      • Conference microsites (current year and archives)
      • Donation and “ways to give” experiences
      • Member‑only or gated educational content
      • Visual design and UI elements (color, typography, components, page layouts)
      • Designing with accessibility, readability, and trust in mind
      • Collaborating with a web developer to ensure designs are feasible and clear
      • Iterate based on feedback from staff and stakeholders

This role blends UX thinking and UI execution—not just visual polish.

    What We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you have:

      • Experience with UX/UI design fundamentals
      • Familiarity with tools like Figma, FigJam, Sketch, or similar
      • Interest in accessibility and inclusive design
      • Ability to collaborate remotely and communicate clearly

Students, early‑career designers, career‑switchers, and experienced designers are all welcome to apply.

    What You’ll Gain

      • Portfolio‑worthy, public‑facing work you can confidently share
      • Experience collaborating on a real redesign with defined requirements
      • Exposure to nonprofit, mission‑driven digital work
      • Flexible schedule and respect for your time
      • A reference and recognition for your contributions

    Why This Matters

Your design work will directly support programs that reduce trauma and increase emotional safety for vulnerable people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. By improving how our website works and feels, you’ll help more people find resources, attend trainings, donate, and support Courthouse Facility Dog Programs.
