    About The Dream Factory

    The Dream Factory is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to granting dreams to critically and chronically ill children. Through volunteer-driven efforts and community support, the organization brings hope, joy, and relief to children and their families during challenging times.

    Position Overview

    The Dream Factory of Memphis, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and committed volunteer to serve as Treasurer on its local Board of Directors. This role is critical to ensure the financial integrity, transparency, and sustainability of the chapter as it continues to fulfill its mission in the Memphis community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare monthly financial reports and submit required reporting to the national organization in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Maintain oversight of the chapter’s financial activity, including monitoring cash flow, managing the chapter’s operating accounts, and maintaining accurate records.
    • Ensure the chapter remains current on all bills, expenses, and payments, including timely processing and documentation of financial obligations.
    • Develop and present the annual operating budget, in collaboration with the Board.
    • Participate in and attend monthly chapter board meetings and provide financial updates.
    • Assist with financial documentation needed for audits, reviews, or national reporting requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Background in accounting or finance
    • Experience with QuickBooks (or similar accounting software).
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
    • Commitment to ethical financial stewardship and basic internal controls.
    • Prior board or volunteer experience with nonprofits is a plus.
    • Required to pass a background check

    Time Commitment

    • Attendance at monthly board meetings. (1 hour per month)
    • Preparation of monthly financial reports (1 – 2 hours per month)
    • Ongoing time for financial management activities (estimated 1 – 2 hours per month, depending on cycle).
