    Description

Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest inspires girls, ages 6-18, to be strong, smart, and bold. Our research-based after school programs provide youth with the skills and confidence they need to access a bright and economically independent future.

We are now seeking volunteers with prior youth experience to support our Afterschool Girls Group Programs in South Seattle, within the Highline School District. This is an immediate volunteer need, to support our groups during Fall Term, with the opportunity to continue throughout the school year.

Each volunteer will be paired with a Staff Facilitator, whose main responsibilities are to lead program activities, adapt curriculum, and communicate with parents/guardians. The Girls Group Volunteer will provide classroom support to the Staff Facilitator by: supporting with checking in youth to group, coordinating the provided snacks and program supplies, helping prepare the space for the group, and other support tasks as needed. You will be another trusted adult in the room, and help provide a safe, supportive space for our program participants.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Prior experience working with youth
    • An enthusiasm for youth development and dedication to our mission
    • Willingness to to commit to a full school term of volunteering
    • Willingness to complete school district and volunteer background check, and complete required training hours

    Time Commitment:

    • 3 hours per week, for 8-10 weeks in the fall, winter and/or spring. Our immediate need is for Fall Term. All terms are 8 sessions, sometimes spread out over 10 weeks due to holidays/school closures.
    • Must be available to volunteer for a full 8-10 week school term
    • Programs run Monday through Thursday, with support needed primarily between the hours of approximately 3pm-6pm.
    • Must be available for 3 hours of training, as part of volunteer onboarding
    • We will work with you to connect you to a Girls Group that is most convenient for your schedule and location.

Our vision is powerful girls in an equitable society – if you’d like to help equip youth with the tools and confidence to realize their own power, then we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering and supporting our mission!
