    Description

    AGYW Mentorship, Skilling Tools & Market Access Support

    Support Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYWs) in the Jinja rural and peri-urban communities to transition from home-based income generating activities into sustainable formal businesses by providing mentorship, skilling tools, and market access for AGYW-made products as a way to help in strengthening household economic stability and healthier family lives.

    Instructions:

    Key Volunteer Responsibilities

    1) AGYW Mentorship & Business Growth

    • Mentor AGYWs on enterprise planning, pricing, quality control, and scaling
    • Guide transition from home IGAs to registered/formal businesses
    • Support cooperative models and peer-led cluster mentoring

    2) Skilling Tools & Production Support

    • Advise on or mobilize essential tools and inputs (e.g., packaging, basic equipment, quality materials)
    • Support product standardization and simple branding
    • Recommend cost-effective production workflows

    3) Market Access & Sales Linkages

    • Identify and connect AGYWs to buyers, retailers, exporters, and ethical markets
    • Support market readiness (product descriptions, pricing sheets, photos)
    • Explore online marketplaces, corporate gifting, fair-trade channels, and local exhibitions

    Products may include:

    • Coffee beans
    • Handmade African crafts (necklaces, bangles, jewellery)
    • Dresses and textiles
    • Home-produced value-added goods

    4) Sustainability & Family Wellbeing

    • Ensure income pathways contribute to stable household livelihoods
    • Integrate healthy living, treatment adherence, and positive life skills
    • Position AGYWs as role models for economic resilience and healthy families
