Position Overview
Hope’s Journey is seeking dedicated and positive Summer Camp Volunteers to support our youth development programs. Volunteers will assist with daily camp activities, mentor youth ages 10–21, and help create a safe, structured, and engaging environment.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working with youth, mentoring, and making a direct impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily camp activities including:
- Mindfulness & Fitness
- Reading Club
- Art Therapy
- Sewing Workshop
- Teen Shark Tank (entrepreneurship activities)
- Assist staff with supervision and engagement of youth
- Build positive relationships with participants
- Help maintain a safe and structured environment
- Support behavior management using guidance from staff
- Assist with setup, cleanup, and transitions between activities
- Encourage participation, teamwork, and confidence-building
- Serve as a positive role model at all times
Qualifications
- Must be at least 20 years old
- Passion for working with youth and community service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to scheduled days
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience with youth, mentoring, or camps preferred (not required)
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Background in education, social work, psychology, or youth development
- Experience with behavior support or mentoring programs
- Creative skills (arts, fitness, reading facilitation, etc.)
Requirements
- Completion of Hope’s Journey onboarding process
- Background check (required for all volunteers working with youth)
- Attendance at volunteer orientation/training
- Commitment to uphold Hope’s Journey policies and values
