    About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, social-emotional learning (SEL), career pathways, and community partnerships. MAP designs programs that create stability and long-term opportunity for young people and their families.

    About PromiseLink

PromiseLink is a strategic initiative designed to connect MAP programs, opportunities, and pathways into a cohesive ecosystem. The initiative strengthens transitions between programs, improves tracking and coordination, and ensures young people experience continuity as they move through mentorship, education, internships, and career readiness.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a PromiseLink Program Director to lead the strategy, development, and execution of the PromiseLink initiative. This role functions similarly to a Product Manager, owning the roadmap, coordinating across programs, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

The Program Director will guide planning, implementation, reporting, and storytelling while serving as the central leader responsible for the initiative’s success.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own the PromiseLink roadmap and execution strategy
    • Coordinate across MAP programs to ensure alignment and integration
    • Set goals, milestones, and KPIs for the initiative
    • Present progress, updates, and recommendations to leadership and the board
    • Ensure alignment with PromisePath and PromiseRise initiatives
    • Oversee reporting, storytelling, and impact communication
    • Support cross-division collaboration and problem-solving
    • Maintain timely, professional responsiveness via email and chat in Google Workspace

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience in program leadership, strategy, product management, or operations
    • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills
    • Ability to define goals, track progress, and drive initiatives forward
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Comfort working with senior leadership and stakeholders
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience in nonprofit, education, or youth-serving organizations
    • Experience managing multi-stakeholder initiatives
    • Familiarity with program evaluation or KPI development
    • Experience presenting to leadership or boards

    Commitment

    • Volunteer senior leadership role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
    • Fully remote with optional NYC-based collaboration

    What You’ll Gain

    • Senior leadership experience owning a cross-program initiative
    • Collaboration with executive leadership and board-level reporting
    • Professional references and letters of recommendation
    • The opportunity to shape a major strategic initiative at MAP
    • A meaningful role strengthening pathways for youth and families

    How to Apply

Interested candidates must apply directly through Idealist and submit:

    • Resume (required)
    • Cover letter (required) describing relevant leadership, strategy, or product/program management experience and interest in MAP’s mission

Help build the connective tissue across MAP programs—so young people experience continuous pathways toward stability and opportunity.
