    Description

    The Lighting Designer volunteer will support the technical and artistic elements of stage lighting for BBT’s performances. This role is ideal for someone passionate about live theater and stage production who wants to gain hands-on experience working in a professional dance environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Stage Manager to design lighting that enhances choreography and mood.
    • Attend rehearsals (as needed) to understand staging, cues, and performance flow.
    • Assist with setting up, focusing, and programming lighting equipment during tech rehearsals and performances.
    • Operate lighting console or follow cues during shows.
    • Help maintain, label, and organize lighting equipment.
    • Ensure all lighting changes and transitions run smoothly during performances.
    • Follow safety guidelines and assist with load-in and load-out.

    Instructions:

    Qualifications:

    • Interest or background in theater lighting, production design, or stage management.
    • Basic knowledge of lighting consoles (ETC, Strand, or similar) a plus—but training can be provided.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with creative and technical teams.
    • Dependable, detail-oriented, and punctual.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced theater environment.
    • Must be available for tech week and show dates (specific schedule provided in advance).
