    Description

    The Addiction Science Defense Network (ASDN) housed within the National Prevention Science Coalition is seeking a highly motivated policy intern. If you are passionate about advancing evidence-based addiction policy, eager to learn about legislative processes, and want to make a tangible impact in the field, we encourage you to apply!

    ASDN was formed in February 2025 by a group of addiction researchers & practitioners. We act as an information exchange & civil action network for individuals & organizations devoted to studying, treating, & preventing problems caused by psychoactive substance use.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct policy research and monitor legislative developments related to addiction science
    • Assist in preparing policy briefs, fact sheets, and advocacy correspondence
    • Support the planning and coordination of advocacy campaigns and events
    • Draft and proofread policy-related documents and communications
    • Help manage outreach on social media and news outlets to promote advocacy efforts

    Qualifications:

    • A rising college senior, In graduate school, or a post-doc
    • Interest in and some familiarity with substance use research
    • Self-motivated, organized, reliable, and industrious
    • Personable and a team player
    • Good communication skills
    • Proficiency with AI, social media, and software programs such as excel, word, PowerPoint, zoom, and search engines
