    Mobile App Tester – Android

    Commitment:

    Role Overview:

    Greenstand is seeking an Mobile App Tester – Android to help ensure the reliability and quality of the TreeTracker mobile application. The Android Tester will support the testing cycle for new releases, verify bug fixes, and help identify issues before updates are deployed to users in the field.

    The role focuses on validating core app workflows such as tree capture, image uploads, GPS convergence, organization selection, and user navigation. You will collaborate closely with developers and the Android team to reproduce bugs, document issues clearly, and confirm that new features work as intended.

    Volunteer, until otherwise funded

    Reports to:

    VP of Engineering, Android Team Lead

    Collaborates with:

    Android Tree Tracker App team, Cloud Engineering team, and Project manager

    Leads

    Testing and quality assurance activities related to Android Tree Tracker app releases.

    AREAS of RESPONSIBILITY

    • Test Android app builds before release to ensure new features and fixes work correctly across supported devices
    • Execute manual testing of core workflows including login, tree capture, image upload, GPS accuracy, organization selection, and general navigation
    • Identify, reproduce and document bugs clearly in Github repository, including steps to reproduce, screenshots and device details
    • Verify that issues reported on the Github project board are resolved after developers submit fixes
    • Support regression testing to confirm that existing features continue to work after new changes are made
    • Collaborate with developers and project managers through Slack and Github to clarify issues and testing requirements
    • Assist with testing during Android release cycles to help ensure stable deployments.
    • Provide feedback on usability issues and unexpected behaviors within the app
    • Help expand test scenarios and contribute to improving the overall testing process for the Android app.

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues in mobile applications
    • Ability to follow testing instructions and document bugs clearly
    • Familiarity with Github for issue tracking and collaboration
    • Basic familiarity with Android smartphones and mobile applications
    • Good communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with developers
    • Experience working in distributed teams is helpful

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Access to an Android device for testing the mobile application
    • Previous experience in QA testing, bug reporting or mobile app testing is helpful.
    • Familiarity with Github, issue tracking, or software testing tools is beneficial.
