About Us
At the Center for Free, Fair, and Accountable Democracy (CFFAD), we help Americans understand and explain the value of democracy and how, together, we can protect and improve the foundations of our republic.
Our work is made possible thanks to the support of volunteers who develop educational content and marketing materials, and help with fundraising efforts.
Opportunities & Responsibilities
This is a great opportunity to build experience and make a difference at the same time!
Help us grow from a small start-up to having a national presence, and you can help us build the financial capacity to support a staff of paid employees;
Design and implement our fund-raising strategy in ways that maximize goodwill while remaining compliant with federal and state laws.
Collaborate with our other volunteers: most of our work is inter-related and mutually supporting.
Commitment
2-5 hours per week, as your schedule allows.
Volunteer duration is open-ended. If you are a student, we would appreciate a minimum commitment of at least 1 semester.
Team planning meetings every other week.
Willingness to work in-person or virtually via text, Zoom, email, and other forms of electronic communication.
Willingness and ability to prioritize the mission of CFFAD;
Strong commitment to non-partisan behavior while assisting or representing CFFAD;
Willingness to work with and rely upon other volunteers from the right and the left;
Willingness to attend any initial orientation or training.
Qualifications
Familiarity with IRS and state laws governing charitable solicitation and giving.
Knowledge of social media fund-raising tools and techniques;
Knowledge of how to conduct donor research;
Comfortable with soliciting donations, reaching out to grant managers and foundations for information, and drafting letters of inquiry;
Proven relationship-building skills;
Integrity and credibility; and
Initiative, flexibility, and dedication;
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Bonus Points
B.A. or better in fields such as Business, Communications, Fundraising, or Philanthropy;
Experience in organizing and contributing to events;
Familiarity with donor relations management and tracking software;
Prior experience in organizations providing civic education or adult education.
