    Description

The GFW Host is a volunteer role responsible for facilitating inclusive, low-pressure gaming sessions within the Gamers for Wellness program. Hosts support the program’s mission by helping create welcoming environments where participants can engage in games while prioritizing balance, respect, and positive community interaction. This role focuses on light facilitation rather than instruction or competition and serves as a point of support during scheduled GFW activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Launch and manage game sessions, including starting games and inviting participants.
    • Read or reference GFW ground rules at the beginning of each session to set expectations for respectful and inclusive engagement.
    • Foster an inclusive, low-pressure environment by monitoring group dynamics, encouraging respectful interaction, and incorporating natural breaks during gameplay.
    • Identify and escalate concerns to GFW leadership or moderators when issues related to safety, conduct, or participant well-being arise. (Report directly to Peroxyy unless otherwise specified)
    • Capture screenshots of events and turnout when appropriate and only with participant consent.
    • Track attendance and document relevant observations or participant feedback to support program evaluation and improvement.

    Time Commitment

    • Hosts are expected to facilitate 1-2 game sessions per month, with each session lasting approximately 60–120 minutes, including setup and wrap-up.
    • Scheduling is coordinated in advance and designed to remain flexible and volunteer-friendly.

    Qualifications & Expectations

    • Alignment with the Gamers for Wellness mission and values.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully in online environments.
    • Comfort facilitating small to medium-sized groups in virtual spaces.
    • Willingness to uphold program guidelines and collaborate with leadership when needed.
