    Description

    Mission

To prepare Black youth and young adults to thrive through civic wellness and community care, empowering them to live fully, lead boldly, and liberate completely.

    Vision

A future where thriving is the new baseline for Black youth and young adults (ages 13–30), where they are nurtured by their communities, rooted in purpose, and empowered to lead lasting change — embracing joy, rest, and justice as the expected norm.

    About This Opportunity

Thrive Liberation Community Center is a nonprofit organization in Charlotte, NC, serving Black youth and young adults (ages 13–30). We have three board seats to fill and are looking for committed, mission-aligned leaders to join us.

We are actively seeking candidates with experience in the priority areas below — but we are keeping an open mind. If you are deeply committed to this work and bring something Thrive needs, we want to hear from you.

    Priority Areas for This Cycle

    Relationship-Based Fundraising

You have worked a donor list, made the calls, and closed gifts — not just believed in the work, but moved people to invest in it.

    East Charlotte Community Roots

You are embedded in the community we serve — you know the families, the organizations, the faith communities, and the people who need Thrive most.

    Education Access or Organizational Development

You have relationships with schools, churches, or community organizations — or experience building the infrastructure that helps growing organizations scale.

What We Are Asking of You

    • Bi-monthly board meetings and one full-day annual retreat
    • 5–10 hours per month including committee work and development activities
    • At least two fundraising initiatives per year
    • A minimum financial contribution or fundraising commitment of $250 per fiscal year
    • A two-year term with the option to renew

    Who Thrives Here

We welcome board members who bring experience or genuine interest in any of Thrive’s four roots:

    • Community Care
    • Joy & Rest
    • Civic Wellness
    • Liberated Capacity — people development, healing, leadership, or systems navigation

Above all, we are looking for people deeply committed to the liberation and flourishing of Black communities and willing to show up with their whole selves for the work.
