    Description

    US Poverty Advocate

RESULTS and RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) mobilize everyday people to advocate for policies that address the root causes of poverty. Through training, support, and collaboration, volunteers develop the skills to effectively influence policy makers in expanding access to education, health, and economic opportunities. RESULTS amplifies the power of grassroots advocacy to drive systemic change, improving the lives of millions globally. With the support of legislative expertise, advocates are empowered to use their voices to create a more equitable world.

    Volunteer Description: US Poverty Advocate

Help build a country where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Across the United States, millions of families are working hard to make ends meet while facing rising housing costs, food insecurity, and barriers to economic opportunity. The policies Congress chooses today will shape whether families can access affordable housing, put food on the table, and build a more secure future.

RESULTS is a nationwide network of everyday people who work together to influence those decisions. Through respectful, relationship-based advocacy, our volunteers encourage Congress to invest in proven solutions that reduce poverty and expand opportunity.

As a RESULTS US Poverty Advocate, you’ll help advance policies that strengthen nutrition programs, expand affordable housing, improve economic mobility, and support families through initiatives like the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit.

No prior advocacy or policy experience is required. We’ll provide the training, mentorship, and support you need to become an effective advocate.

    What You’ll Do

    • Build relationships with your members of Congress and their staff.
    • Write letters to the editor, opinion pieces, and other local media.
    • Take meaningful advocacy actions with a supportive local or virtual team.
    • Develop leadership, communication, and civic engagement skills while creating lasting change.

    Why Volunteer with RESULTS?

    • Learn directly from experienced volunteer leaders and professional policy and grassroots organizing staff.
    • Gain practical experience in advocacy, public speaking, persuasive writing, and relationship building.
    • Meet with members of Congress and their staff to discuss solutions to poverty.
    • Join a national community committed to creating a more equitable future.

Whether you’re passionate about food security, housing, economic opportunity, or civic engagement, you’ll find a place to learn, lead, and make a meaningful difference.
