    Description

    Role: Volunteer Services Coordinator

    Position Overview: The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing, supporting, and guiding volunteers within an organization. This role involves on-boarding, training, scheduling, and ensuring that volunteers are effectively contributing to the organization’s mission. The Volunteer Coordinator acts as the main point of contact between volunteers and staff, ensuring that all volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience while helping to achieve the goals of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Volunteer Onboarding: Manage the onboarding process for new volunteers, ensuring they understand the organization’s mission, policies, and expectations.
    • Training & Development: Provide ongoing training, support, and resources to help volunteers develop the necessary skills for their roles.
    • Scheduling & Assignment: Coordinate volunteer schedules, assign tasks, and ensure there are enough volunteers for various activities and events.
    • Volunteer Engagement & Retention: Build and maintain relationships with volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, motivated, and supported. Send birthday greetings to Volunteers and thank you gifts to Volunteers in the US. Make recommendations for Volunteer of the month. Invite Volunteer to Professional Development opportunities. Recommend Volunteers for third party awards.
    • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing events, including volunteer-specific activities and appreciation events, to foster a sense of community.
    • Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, tasks, and feedback, and report on volunteer program outcomes to senior management.
    • Conflict Resolution: Address any issues or concerns raised by volunteers in a timely and constructive manner.
    • Program Evaluation: Regularly assess the effectiveness of the volunteer program and make recommendations for improvements.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • Previous experience in volunteer management or community outreach is preferred
    • Passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to volunteerism
    • Proficiency with volunteer management software and basic office tools (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Suite)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in event planning or coordination
    • Experience in managing large teams and/or running a call center in the past
    • Leadership or supervisory experience
    • Bilingual abilities

    Time Commitment: This role is approximately 2 hours per week.

    Reports To: Pat Snipes

    This is a volunteer position, and as such, there is no monetary compensation. However, the Volunteer Services Coordinator may receive transportation reimbursement, when needed.
