    Description

    OYC Miami is seeking volunteers to support our End-of-Summer Showcase / Family Block Party. This event will bring together students, families, staff, and community partners to celebrate the end of summer programming and prepare for the upcoming school year.

    Volunteers will play an important role in helping the event run smoothly. Support is needed before the event for setup and preparation, as well as during the Block Party to help with logistics, guest support, and family engagement.

    This is a great opportunity for individuals, corporate groups, student groups, and community members who want to give back and be part of a fun, meaningful community event.

    Instructions:

    Shift 1: Event Setup

    9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

    Volunteers will help with:

    • Setting up tables, chairs, signs, and event areas
    • Organizing materials and supplies
    • Preparing activity stations or resource areas
    • Supporting backpack/school supply setup as needed
    • Assisting staff with event layout and logistics
    • Helping prepare the space before families arrive

    Shift 2: Event Support / Family Block Party

    3:00 PM – 7:00 PM

    Volunteers will help with:

    • Welcoming and directing families
    • Supporting activity stations
    • Helping with event flow and crowd movement
    • Assisting with backpack or supply distribution if needed
    • Supporting food, water, or refreshment areas
    • Helping staff, students, and families throughout the event
    • Assisting with light cleanup at the end of the event

    Requirements

    Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Volunteers may be standing, walking, helping with setup, moving supplies, or supporting outdoor/indoor event activities.

    Time Commitment

    One-time volunteer opportunity. Volunteers may sign up for one shift or both shifts.
