    Description

    At Atlas Assistance Dogs®, we believe everyone who could benefit from a service dog should be able to have one. Our nonprofit helps people with disabilities train their own qualified service dogs, while educating ethical trainers and building a more inclusive world - one partnership at a time.

    As we grow, we’re looking for a Board Continuity Director to help build and sustain the next generation of Atlas leadership. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at connecting people, spotting talent, and creating systems that help others succeed.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, and mentor new board members, ensuring a diverse and engaged board that reflects the communities we serve.
    • Build a simple, repeatable framework for succession planning, helping Atlas maintain steady, sustainable leadership.
    • Maintain a live pipeline of potential candidates and ensure term renewals and transitions are handled smoothly.
    • Partner with the Board Effectiveness Chair and President to keep the board thriving
    • engaged, balanced, and mission-aligned.
    • Support inclusion efforts by ensuring our leadership represents a wide range of backgrounds, skills, and lived experiences.
    • Participate in regular board activities, contributing your ideas, insight and passion to further Atlas’ mission.

    What You Bring

    • Experience in HR, talent strategy, organizational development, or nonprofit governance.
    • Prior experience on an nonprofit board, ideally including board development expereince
    • A connector’s mindset
    • you enjoy building relationships and spotting the right people for the right mission.
    • Commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
    • Organizational and communication skills to keep systems running smoothly.
    • A genuine belief in the power of people and dogs working together.
    • You’re comfortable using basic digital tools (like ClickUp or shared online workspaces) to stay organized, collaborate, and keep things moving between meetings.
    • US based.

    Commitment

    • ~1-5 hours per week, averaging 5
    • 15 hours per month
    • Hybrid or virtual participation.
    • Monthly virtual board meetings, quarterly deep dive meetings and annual meeting attendance.
    • 3year renewable term.
