Description
We Excel Cincinnati (WEC) is a parent-led educational advocacy nonprofit working to advance literacy and education equity for students in Cincinnati Public Schools. We believe every child deserves the chance to read, learn, and thrive — and that parents are essential partners in making that happen.
We're seeking two Board Members to help guide WEC's next chapter. We're especially looking for people who bring strength in one or more of these areas:
- Parent Advocacy — experience organizing, empowering, or representing parents and families in education spaces
- Fundraising — a track record (or strong instinct) for grant relationships, individual giving, or nonprofit revenue strategy
- Reading Literacy — background in literacy instruction, intervention, or education programming
Responsibilities:
- Attend quarterly board meetings and participate in occasional committee work
- Help shape WEC's strategic direction and organizational priorities
- Support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and grant relationships
- Serve as an ambassador for WEC in the community
- Bring your expertise and networks to strengthen our literacy and advocacy work
Qualifications:
- Passion for education equity and belief in the power of parent voice
- Collaborative team player who can also think strategically
- Cincinnati-based or deeply connected to the Cincinnati Public Schools community
- No prior board experience required — we value lived experience, professional expertise, and genuine commitment equally
We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the community we serve. Parents, educators, literacy professionals, and advocates are all encouraged to apply.
