    Description

Call for Experienced Data Engineers & Data Scientists

    NESA.Africa | EduAid.Africa | SantosCreations.org

We’re not just building platforms—we’re building a connected, data-driven ecosystem across Africa.

To make this vision work at scale, we’re looking for experienced Data Engineers and Data Scientists who can transform existing data into fully functional systems that drive participation, trust, and growth.

What This Role Is Really About

We currently have 1,700+ nominees already identified through internal processes.

However, much of this data remains static, fragmented, or underutilized.

Your role is to turn this into a live, scalable system powering NESA.Africa and its supporting platforms.

    Immediate Priority (Critical Assignment)

Your first mission will be to:

Transfer and activate all existing nominees into a fully functional system

    This includes:

    • Migrating nominee data into the NESA.Africa platform
    • Ensuring all nominees have valid, verified contact information:
      • Direct email addresses
      • Phone numbers
    • Re-establishing communication pipelines:
      • Nomination notifications
      • Access to nomination letters
      • Acceptance workflows
    • Ensuring every nominee:
      • Receives their nomination
      • Accepts and activates their profile

    What You’ll Be Building

This is not a one-time cleanup—it’s about creating a repeatable, scalable system:

    • Nomination → Notification → Acceptance → Profile Activation
    • Nominee → Voting → Engagement → Visibility
    • Data → Analytics → Insights → Optimization

    Platform-Wide Responsibilities

You’ll help design and connect data systems across:

    • Nomination and nominee status tracking
    • Voting and participation systems
    • Judges’ workflows
    • Wallet and voting points systems
    • Fundraising (Rebuild My School Africa)
    • Local Chapters and engagement tracking
    • Social media → platform conversion tracking
    • Analytics and user behavior systems

    Database & Scalability Focus

A core part of your role will involve:

    • Designing a scalable database architecture
    • Ensuring data consistency across:
      • NESA.Africa
      • EduAid.Africa
      • SantosCreations.org
    • Supporting integration across all systems and micro-sites
    • Building for performance, reliability, and long-term scale

    What We’re Looking For

    You should be confident in:

    • Database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
    • Data modeling for real-world systems
    • Cleaning and structuring large datasets
    • Backend data flows, APIs, and integrations
    • Query optimization and performance tuning

    Bonus Skills

    • Analytics and dashboard development
    • User behavior and conversion tracking
    • Experience working on live platforms
    • Familiarity with ORM tools (e.g., Prisma)
    • Exposure to payment, wallet, or fundraising systems

    How We Work

    • Fully remote
    • Flexible schedule
    • Structured collaboration via Slack
    • Focused system-by-system execution
    • Work delivered in 4–6 week cycles

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience working on a live, multi-system ecosystem
    • A strong, portfolio-worthy project
    • Certificate of participation
    • Recommendations for outstanding contributors
    • Opportunities for continued roles
