A CASA Advocate is a screened and trained community volunteer who is appointed by a judge to advocate for an abused or neglected child in juvenile court dependency proceedings at no fault of their own.
Pre-service advocacy training includes hybrid classes using the National CASA curriculum, local and federal background screening, and in-person court observation. Please contact us for the next training class. Upon successful completion of the training, advocates are sworn in and obtain a certificate of completion to represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system in Houston County, GA.
Through recommendations to the Juvenile Judge, CASAs advocate for the physical, emotional, educational, spiritual, and intellectual well-being of the child(ren) served. Other core advocacy goals are safety and permanency with each CASA assignment.
